Backstage Pass Auditions

Edit:
Auditions are closed. We will be recording all through this month, so if you are cast, you will be hearing from us during this time.

Due to the large volume of auditions received, we will not be able to provide feedback. If you are looking for advice or want to know more about a voice acting career, check out http://iwanttobeavoiceactor.com.

I am very excited for the release of this game! :D I've always been a fan of sakevisual games especially RE: Alistair++. One question though, does Alvin have a route? xD

I was wondering what the amounts of payment were lie. Is it by line/number of words? Or something else, depending on the character? If you don't mind my asking that is. Thanks

It depends on the character, but the rates are consistent with voiceover rates in the indie games community. If you have a going rate that you'd prefer, feel free to include that in your audition submission.

When auditioning for Allison, should one perform badly during lines where she's acting? I read on her character bio that's she's not particularly good at acting.

Ayu Sakata said...

Nice research! Um, I'd prefer you do your best, and we can take it down from there. It's a lot easier to go worse than better.

Alright, thanks! :)

Is it okay to audition for more than one character, or do you prefer only one?

Ayu Sakata said...

You may audition for as many as you feel you are suited to.

How would you prefer Sian to be pronounced? I was looking up the pronunciation of Sian, and I've found multiple ways that people say it. "Shy-on", "Sigh on", "Sigh ann", "Shawn", etc.

Ayu Sakata said...

"Shawn" is preferred, but it won't kill your chances if you say it differently.

Do you have any guidelines for sending in multiple takes?

Yumi said...

Hello!

I'd like to audition, but my English is not fluent (I'm not a native English speaker). I may mispronounce some words and have some accent. Is it a problem? I also have some difficulty in understanding what people say, but I can clearly understand them if they type what they want to tell me. (Saying this because of the Skype matter)

I'm better typing than speaking, actually... Oh my, there are so many problems that I have a feeling it's not acceptable~ But it doesn't hurt to ask XD

Thank you!

Lily said...

Hello, I wanted to ask, do I have to be over 18 to participate? thanks c:

Ayu Sakata said...

-Please limit multiple takes to three distinct reads. Feel free to separate the files or keep them all in one.

-If you have an accent, you are still welcome to audition.

-If you are under 18, you can audition, but if you are cast I will have to get a signed contract from your parent or guardian.

Hello. I was looking through the characters page on the official website and realized Rachel is the only minor character not listed here. Just out of curiosity, will she not be open for auditions? I was quite instered in auditioning for her.

Ayu Sakata said...

Before casting, we asked fans to request their favorite voice actors, and we reached out to as many as we could. Rachel was cast to one of these actors.

Hello! I was wondering how your session/directing schedule would look like for someone with a full-time job?

Ayu Sakata said...

We work with people from all over the world, so we can schedule recording sessions for basically any hour or day of the week.

I have a british english accent, but might be able to pull off a more americanized accent. Would you prefer an american accent? (this is for female characters generally under 30)

Ayu Sakata said...

If you could read both ways, that would be great. I will be needing several British accents from various regions and islands, so I'd like to hear your natural accent as well.

Would you accept somebody who is below 15 as well? Can you record even with a headphones with a built in mic?

Ayu Sakata said...

If you are under 15, tell me in your email and if you are cast, we will go from there. You can record with any mic you want, but mic quality is one of the deciding factors in who gets cast.

Anonymous said...

Hi, I'm sorry, but I have a questions. If we aren't able to do a live audition, is it alright to send you a recording through e-mail? Also that, by paid you mean, if we are accepted that we are being paid?

Ayu Sakata said...

All auditions should be mailed in. If you are cast, you'll be asked to perform live. Payment is only for people who are cast.

BP its not smut right ?

Ayu Sakata said...

No smut. If it were a movie, it would be somewhere between PG and PG-13. PG for its own content, but PG-13 because the shows they work on have some violence and blood.

My cam can only record on Logitech webcam software so when i record it saves as a video file and not as a WAV or MP3 file what should i download so it can record only voice and on a WAV or MP3?

Ayu Sakata said...

A friend of mine uses something called WinX HD Video Converter, but any audio ripping software should do.

Anonymous said...

How many lines per character would you like us to read? Just one line? All the ones listed for a particular character?

Ayu Sakata said...

All of them, please. The lines are specially chosen to test range of voice and emotion, so I'll need all of them to make a decision.

Lee Turner said...

Hello I sent a couple of emails to confirm that my auditions made it successfully. I was having weather problems at the time. I sent the recordings under the name Lee Turner. Please let me know if the recordings were received.

Ayu Sakata said...

They have been received! Sorry for not responding sooner. The email address is a separate inbox I use for just voice related things, so I don't check it as regularly.

Is it closed yet or can we still send them in?

Ayu Sakata said...

Still open. ^.^ Deadline is listed in the guidelines at the top of this post.

Puti Azalea said...

When will we find out if we were picked? :D

Fanny said...

Hello, are you going to translate it in other languages ? And doing auditions in theses languages ? :) Thanks you.

Ayu Sakata said...

The cast will be posted after we're done recording, so in a month or so.

So far we don't have plans to translate this game, but that doesn't mean it won't happen someday.

I know you said if someone were to be cast, you would be doing things over Skype, so this may be a stupid question, but anyways - Would you want someone to edit their voice with a sound software to make it have a better/clearer quality or would you prefer it raw?

Ayu Sakata said...

Please clean up any background noise or other things to make your recording sound as clear as possible.

Sayaka said...
