The Gameplan

Well, lots on the list of things to do right now, but I'm going to write out a gameplan so that I get everything finished in good time.

February:
The deadline for the two month challenge fast approaches. RE: Alistair is doing okay, but we're seriously in crunch time right now. A couple thousand more words, at least, hopefully done by the end of this week so that we can spend the last week testing and cleaning up any emergency issues.

March:
Crazy insane writing month. I intend to actually finish writing both Card Sweethearts and Moonsong this month. That's a lot, especially seeing as both have several tens of thousands of words to go, but I really want to get these done ASAP. They've both been sitting around much too long, and they'll get stale if I don't put a rush order on them.

April:
If my March plan works out, start writing three new games. Yes, three. A sequel to a game that's currently doing very well, a horror/otome game, and a personal project that I hope to be able to release commercially. @^@

In the meantime:
Ripples, Plat du Jour, and hanami x 2 will move along at whatever speed is appropriate based on the schedule and workload of the artist.

Word Counts

With two projects close to completion, it's time to buckle down and start writing again. Real writing. So that we can have more games. Because games are fun!

Moonsong:
Statistics:
The game contains 929 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 9706 words,
for an average of 10.4 words per screen.
The game contains 7 menus.

Re: Alistair
Statistics:
The game contains 126 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 1230 words,
for an average of 9.8 words per screen.
The game contains 1 menus.

Weekend Update

I haven't updated for awhile, since all I've really been doing this past week is editing. Somehow, I doubt "did more edits today," makes for a very compelling blog post. I will tell you what's all up and cool these days, though.

Editing - Just finished editing Spirited Heart. It's getting a shiny new re-release and I'm excited. It's actually a very clever game, and I'm sure each time through will provide a very different experience. Yuza is totally my favorite guy, because I love cooking. Go figure. I'm also editing another game right now, and that should be done within a week or so. This is also a cool game, but I'll update you all when that's done.

Writing - Still clipping along with Moonsong and Plat du Jour (more on that in later posts). hx2 is on something of a break since my voices and artist are very busy right now. I wonder if it will ever be finished. >.>

Extra - Did some writing/editing/revamping of an old release of mine. Deji and I are going to re-release a game I did awhile back, and it will technically be the first release by "sakevisual." More on that later as well.

New Stuff - I inexplicably decided to join the two-month VN challenge (or whatever it's called). I have a pretty neat team, and we're going to be doing an otome romance game. Because otome romance is FUN. It'll be short and sweet, but I think it'll be fun.

Moonsong Update

Moonsong is chipping along. A new character has been introduced.

Statistics:
The game contains 481 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 4422 words,
for an average of 9.2 words per screen.
The game contains 3 menus.

Water Damage

Moonsong update. Working on Ito's path. She's really difficult, and I'm sure her character will need to be tweaked a bit to make her more manageable. O_o

Statistics:
The game contains 334 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 3167 words,
for an average of 9.5 words per screen.
The game contains 3 menus.

Let's Go!

Well, I've been off the blog for a week to reorganize myself, my games, and get new projects in order. And now I'm back. So what's in the queue these days?

Card Sweethearts - A poker-themed visual novel. I have practically zero poker experience, so I taught myself Texas Hold'em so I could at least learn the rankings of all the hands. I also understand why the game is so addictive. It's definitely a fun way to pass the time. Good thing I like writing more. XD I'm actually coming in late on this project, with a good chunk of the story already written. I've been spending the past week revising and editing everything so that it sounds kinda like I wrote it. That way, the whole game will have a little bit of coherency. I'm not making too many changes (there's no point in writing something that's already been written), but just a few here and there. I'll actually pick up writing sometime within the week.

Moonsong - More writing and tweaking the plot with people who know better than I. The current edition weighs in at 2,013 words. Still a lightweight, but so far I've only introduced two characters. XD I'm also doing art for this one, so character designs are being worked and reworked and then some.

Plat du Jour - The demo still isn't done being written, but I'm getting closer! It's currently at a pretty decent 10,905 words, and I've just begun to write the various "endings" that will lead into the respective branches. I also started work on a teaser site (see above) meant to act as the "official" homepage for the main character's school. The culture of the school is a large part of the game, so I think giving the school it's own website is a nice touch. It's also a nice way for me to brush up on my rusty HTML skills. Also working with the artist on designing a super cute logo for the game. ^-^

hanami x 2 - I actually found another artist for this! Finally. This is the third artist I've had on the project, and I hope this one sticks, because she's absolutely wonderful (then again, when have I not worked with an artist who is wonderful?).

And of course, there are a thousand other things being planned or sketched or plotted, but these are the ones I am currently focusing my attention on (especially the first two).

for an average of 9.8 words per screen.
The game contains 40 menus.

-Working on character designs and started writing Moonsong.

Play a little Tune

Today...writing did not happen as much as I wanted it to. I managed to write a few short events for The Flower Shop, but I sunk most of my time into working on the design for the main character of Moonsong. It's still not complete, but here's a little snippet of her. I'm sure the final version will change even from this (for instance, she looks a little too old here), but it's a start.

Moving On

Well, with H2 edits out of the way, it's time to move on to other projects. I've started writing Moonsong as well as sketching out another storyline for something really cool in the future. But that's a secret for now. ^_-

The Flower Shop is probably 2/3 done in terms of writing. Not sure where everything else stands, but writing at least is moving along pretty quickly. I wager the writing portion will be done within a month at the most. Lots of cute romantic things are happening now (or terrible un-romantic things if you make the wrong decisions.)

Statistics:
The game contains 2238 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 22310 words,
for an average of 10.0 words per screen.
The game contains 34 menus.
