Landscape, definitely. You can appreciate the background better that way.
Landscape I feel like it would be awkward to have more than one character on screen if you had it in portrait version,
I might be mistaken but I think most mobile devices are able to be rotated without difficulty. I use my phone in the "portrait" orientation all the time but if I were to put Sakevisual's games on my phone I'd want the landscape orientation. I like seeing all the background and the art.
Landscape, for sure.
I kinda like the portrait screenshot. It's very intimate, a close up view of the character. The landscape mode makes her seem to be a million miles away. So I like that a bit less.Just my opinion.
I like landscape, but I can appreciate the comment about portrait making the character seem more intimate.
Perhaps you could code it so that it rotates with the device, like if you hold it upright the view is in portrait mode, and if you hold the device on it's side, the view is in landscape mode. Some apps have this, and I find it a very nice feature. And, you won't have people complaining about how they wanted the other orientation.
I have visual novel games in both styles on my phone, and I by far prefer landscape. It's much easier to navigate and gives a more worldly feel. Portrait scrunches characters up on the screen, so they're in my face constantly and I don't get an idea of the setting. Text boxes are also cramped and can't fit much unless they take up a fair amount of the screen.
i prefer potrait. but i think about how if there's two persons or three ._.
I like portrait veiw. I agree with the others, that it feels more intimate. But also, it has a kind of fresh look to it. And the other screen is so far back, it might be hard to read the dialog box at times. Especially on small phones. Just my opinion though ^.^
Landscape. I prefer that I can side everything beside the one I talk to
Landscape. Text could be bigger, though.
I'd like to find out some of the technical aspects of your porting for example is being done native or are using engine if so what engine? How are things going with compression?
